About Me

A portrait of Nicole Valdez, a friendly and professional therapist, wearing a green top with a warm smile.

Nicole Valdez, LCSW, PMH-C

Professionally, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Perinatal Mental Health provider who has worked with women, children, and families for 20+ years. Almost as important to my clinical work, I am a late in life mom to a neurodivergent child. Through my child’s diagnosis, I was also diagnosed with ADHD as an adult. This is important because these things changed my perspective on mental health, parenting, and well-being for women.

I am deeply passionate about Women’s Health, and make every effort to create an encouraging and supportive space for women with diagnosed or undiagnosed ADHD/Autism by embracing a neurodiversity-affirming approach. The foundation of my therapeutic work is being my authentic self and inviting your authentic self into the room. I will prioritize the topics most meaningful to you and explore how your strengths can be leveraged for positive change, connection, and wellness.

I work from an Attachment Theory perspective and rely heavily on building trusting professional relationships with my clients. We will often look back in order to move forward. I am trained in Brainspotting and use this with almost all clients to support deep processing of difficult emotions and support focusing on body

Feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or disconnected?

This space is dedicated to you. I understand the weariness of navigating unmet expectations—those you have for yourself, others have for you, and society’s demands. Let’s find balance together.

My practice is tailored to meet the unique mental and emotional needs of women and mothers, providing a path to process experiences, discover inner strength, and empower through healing. I assist women in bringing balance to their lives, gaining clarity in self-identity, and fostering self-trust.

I strive to offer you a space to put down your defenses and seek new insight into areas of your life in which you struggle. I am trained in Brainspotting to assist those who have experienced trauma. I am certified as an Infant Mental Health Clinician through the Harris Institute and enjoy working with women of all ages.

Are you a new parent?

Are you in the early days of parenting? Do you question whether you love your baby the same as other women you know? Do you find yourself angry but aren’t sure why? Have you started to drink more than you used to and aren’t sure when that happened? Does your child behave in ways you don’t understand or see in the children of your friends? Are you worried about your relationship with your child?

If you identify with any of these questions, you have found the right place.

The focus of my practice is women in the pre- and post-natal periods, matrescence (transition to motherhood), birth trauma, parenting, parenting neurodivergent children (ADHD, ASD, PDA, etc.), and exploring/healing childhood attachment wounds. I also have a strong background in early childhood development including social/emotional development and the formation of the early attachment relationships. I work from an Attachment Theory perspective and rely heavily on developing a trusting relationship through which healing occurs.

Some people come to counseling with set goals on which they want to work. Others simply want a dedicated space to talk thorough and process daily and/or life events. Whatever your reason for seeking counseling, I am here to listen, reflect, and allow your true self to emerge.
